When To Use a Pre-Chorus

The Pre-Chorus can be placed at the end of the Verse. A Pre-Chorus usually consists of a two or four line lyrical phrase and rarely exceeds four musical bars. The function of the Pre-Chorus is to lead the listener, both musically and lyrically to the Chorus. Sometimes you will see the Pre-Chorus referred to as the Lift, the Climb, the Channel, or the B-section. In the UK, the Pre-Chorus is referred to as the Bridge, but the again, they refer to the hood of a car as a Bonnet.
